Default going to start bushing install...

so my energy suspension master kit just arrived. i've read over and over that when installing suspension bushings, it is vital to use plenty of lube/grease to avoid squeeking. what is the best option? specifically, what brand? also, is it truly feasible to do the bushings without a press, or should i take my components down to a machine shop? i have read the drill and hacksaw technique. does that get the job done in a semi-reasonable timeframe? thanks in advance

I just use a can of generic white lithium grease. It's pretty much all the same.

A press will get the job done in a few minutes. A hammer, hacksaw and C-clamps will get the job done in a few days. Cheap 12 ton presses are availible for around $100, and they can be pretty useful.

You will begin to hate your car if you don't use a press. :chuckles:

That install is a bish. Good luck man.

I like Mobil 1 synthetic assembly lube. Royal Purple also makes a nice assembly lube.

As far as what you're in for, this is going to be a pain in the ass. :chuckles:

This is an article which describes the process: http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=426

hrm. do you guys know if any rental places rent out presses? judging by that article, it looks like a 12 ton press isn't enough..

i just bought a tub of axle grease and made a huge mess.

I did some of my bushings manually, and some of them I took to get pressed. Doing it yourself is a big PITA, but honestly, it beats paying somebody else to do it. If you have the time, DIY. A press is really helpful in getting the OEM ones out, but its not needed to install the ES ones. I personally used a dremmel, torch, chisel, hacksaw to get mine out. Ahhh.... the smell of burning rubber :loco:
