i checked jdmshit.com no luck on tranny... they had some cable tranny but of course i need hydro. any other suggestions?

for my ARP head studs, do i use them for b16a or b18c5? or is there a difference?
should i bother with a fancy headgasket like skunk2 or something or just get a honda or a fel-pro?
im assuming i should use a clutch and flywheel for whatever tranny i end up getting....
im also assuming the b16a1 cam gears will work - can somebody verify this?

there is a guy in syracuse (less than an hour drive for me) that will dyno tune it and flash my ecu so that its tuned up right... once i get it in, ill have him take care of it for me. just gotta find an obd-1 vtec ecu now...

i sure hope i can have this thing swapped in by the end of summer! it seems easy but i still have to cough up for tranny, clutch, lsd if i dont get an ITR tranny, head studs, head gasket, ecu, etc.... and im not countin on gettin as lucky with prices for all of that as i did so far.

i picked up my bottom end this afternoon :irock:

it is beautiful, just need the timing gear for the crank, the crank pulley, and the timing cover as well as the oil breather for the block.

leaving in about 20 minutes to pick up my head. :irock:

found an ITR tranny im gonna see how cheap i can get it.... might have my motor in sooner than i expected :irock:

I believe you would have to use B18C head studs. The B16A and B18C5 use the same PR3 casting for their heads. ARP one part number for the B16A and one for the B16B/B18C. The B16B uses B16A crank and rods in a B18C block. All this leads me to believe that you should order the B16A studs.

If you want to bump the compression ratio a little bit you can go with a thinner headgasket, otherwise OEM is fine.

All B-series hydraulic transmissions can use the same clutch and flywheel parts.

As for getting your assorted exhaust pieces to fit, I would call up Landspeed Racing. If you tell them which header and exhaust you have (i.e. which application) they should be able to fab you up a Carsound cat in the right length with the proper flanges.

What do you mean about cam gears? The stock ones? The higher deck height of the B18C block compared to the B16A block might put the cam timing off ever so slightly but I can't imagine it'd be much of an issue. If you're just talking about adjustable cam gears then they're the same for all B-series motors.

Be sure to use a B18C5 timing belt.

sweet thanks for the help, Mike... you always manage to come through... the head has stock cam gears so i think i'll be upgrading them. i jsut wanted to make sure the tooth count wasnt any different so i got the right ones.

i kinda have a feeling my compression is high enough between the ITR pistons and the PR3 head so ill stick with honda-spec head gasket.

i dont have a header yet, since my engine is stock, ive been using the oem exhaust manifold. do the ITR and the b16a1 have the same bolt pattern or do i need to go with a b16 header?

on a side note, the head came with a hondata heat sheild intake manifold gasket :naughty:
