Excessive Gas Consumption
Hi All.
As I mentioned before, I recently purchased a used 2000 Integra GS (Auto) with 13,000 miles on it. Well I've owned it for approximately 1 month, and I've been tracking the mileage......
I'm averaging only 10-12 mpg in the city, and 15-17 mpg on the highway. I've owned Honda's all my life and I've never had mileage this bad....I should be getting double that.
The only thing I've changed so far is the oil. I went from whatever was in it to full synthetic.
SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!

Yes, yes they will. Have you done a tuneup on it? The plugs can get jacked up with time, and it may be your plug wires have gone bad too. Bad spark will hurt economy
take it back to the dealer........they "should" give you some goodwill warranty if you complain enough about it. plus it only had 13k on it I'm sure they and easily find whats wrong with it.
my guess would be maybe a bad o2 sensor. the car is 4 years old but only has 13k on it so the sensor could be bad.....?

Thank you all :-). I'm working on it one thing at a time....... I reset the ECU last night. I ordered an Injen Short Ram ($87) vs a K&N filter ($66). I'm ordering NGK Wires and Denso Iridium Plugs, and I'm looking into where to buy a distributor rotor. The O2 sensor will be next after that. Then the fuel filter.
17MPG is SUV territory!!, even thought u driving an auto, it shouldnt be that bad!!
Take it to the dealer, they usually (depends on dealership/managment) are fair and give like 1-2 months extra depending on the problem. Even if you are doing jack rabbit starts, the car shouldnt be that bad!!
Your not like warming it up for like 15 mins in the morning are you??. Letting it idle for excessive times will kill the economy

If you're milage is that bad, something could be very wrong. Does it run like shit/have any drivability issues? You're not driving around on flat tires are you?
And if you're considering taking it to the dealership for diagnosis, the last thing you want to do is throw a bunch of aftermarked parts on it. You'll ruin any chance you had of getting any "goodwill" service. They'll just tell you, "no wonder you get shit milage, look at all this aftermarket crap."
I would be seriously concerned if I were you.
