Default Is a high flow cat necessary?

my itr is stock except for an aem cai. i just bought a ceramic dc jdm spec 4-1 header + apexi n1 cat back. I know i need a 2.5 collector but how much better will it perform with a high flow/bigger cat or should i even bother?

Keep in mind that i am installing a JRSC in aswell. I'll only be running 6 - 8 lbs/ 8 lbs with hondata of course.

and 1 more big question for any forcefed pro's. This big boost JRSC as you most likely already know has an 11 lb boost pulley. Please tell me what I... (1) must upgrade so my baby don't detonate or wear and...(2) what is not manditory but is piece of mind to have when running 11 lbs with JRSC.
THANX A LOT FOR ANY INPUT/ADVICE!!!

if i were you id turbo it instead of running a JRSC. ive heard some horror stories about the blower, like leaking oil and what not after about 6 months and then the company refuses to deal with it. to get back to your question on the high flow cat, id say that would be a good upgrade to free up some more ponies if you're going to run FI.

yes, the high flow cat will give you benefits than the stock cat. Most high flow cats out there now are running as good as straight pipes. So keep it clean and get some hp's. I recommend SMSP's Car Sound Cat for 2.5" collectors. I'm running one and it's great!

WHat option do you have except high flow cat if you need a 2.5" collector cat and the fact your cat is too long for the longer JDM style header?

If you are installing a 4-1 header and exhaust then deff go with a high-flow 2.5" cat. It will yeild better numbers, deff with boost involved.

I would not upgrade boost not unless your motor is built and fully tuned.

alright this is what i did. I bought the dc jdm 2.5 ceramic header, random tech. cat. 2.5 inch part # 822500 and apexi n1 catback. my itr is bone stock except for intake (aem). I not an idiot with tools meaning i just need a guide line of what parts i need (flanges/gaskets) to connect header to cat back. keep in mind header is 2.5 o.d the catalyic is 2.5 o.d with no flanges or anything for that matter and n1 catback. thank you so much for any advice and guidance. lates

I'm running a JDM ITR 4-1 header, T1R 2.5" cat and T1R b-pipe and muffler. When I switched over to the setup I noticed a couple of things. You do pick up some accelleration. Not a kick in the pants or anything, but it's a little crisper. You are going to throw "Check Engine" lights all the time. I suggest jumpering the maintenance pins once a week or so to read the codes, just to ensure it's not throwing codes other than your cat. You'll also notice that decelleration is pretty rough. Whereas with a stock exhaust it'll coast down nicely, with a bigger setup and especially with a bigger hi-flow cat, you might notice it feels really funny.
