I switched from M1 to GTX and I still burn the same amount. I'm going back to M1 when I need my next oil change...

I would rather have the small amount of protection then save a few $

I also blew through Mobil 1 in both of my R's, I switched to Castrol Syntech and the usage lessened but still used a bit between changes. I switched to Agip 10W60 and usage is non existant. But my car is not a daily driver, only used for Track and Autocross and I change the oil at about or less than 1,000 miles, before each track day or generally after about 3 autocrosses. I always check the level before startup, Always. And my car is stored in the winter.

I have always used Mobil1 5w-30 SuperSyn and between oil changes i go from the fill line to the low line on the dipstick. That is "normal" to me and almost all other R owners I know.

Our C5's Spin faster then some kart motors so a little oil consumed is fine by me.

LOL - Both, actually, but mainly the viscosity.

I first switched to it on a whim because Yasu Fukui (ATS USA owner) had some extra laying around that they run in their race cars (it was free the first time BTW.). True the oil doesn't have the same detergents as mass marketed ones but I change it so often that really makes little of a difference.

After seeing the car consume None after a day a LRP a few years back I bought myself a few cases directly for $38. or $39. for 12 liters, (not quarts) is what I remember so the price was not an issue. But since then the price has gone up to about $50. a case. It is a Full Synthetic Italian Racing Formula manufactured by Agip In Canada and bottled in Pa USA and used by Ferrari NA (or some such, I'll have to reread the regular pamphlets they send me).

Rodney also runs it in his Hybrid SM civic with the same results as well Yasu in both his ATS/J's CTR and ITR. We all had the comsumption issue and all had used the M1, since the switch no consumption whatsoever.

i'm currently using castrol gtx 5w-30 and the most i've burned is a half a quart in a 3,000 mile period. i do drive sprited as well so i am pleased with castrol gtx. we will see if it can hold up during a day's worth of a HPDE.
