Transmission Fluid:

GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid: Part# 12345349
GM Synchromesh Transmission Fluid Friction Modified: Part #12377916
The stuff runs about $10-14 bucks a quart for the regular tranny fluid (Part# 12345349) and about $8-12 for the Friction Modified (Part #12377916) but figure $30-40 bucks is cheaper than a new ITR tranny ($1200+). Be carefull though if you decide to get this stuff, cause they have two different modified products... a "modifiER" and "modifiED"... you want the "modified" bottle that looks like a normal container that a quart of oil comes in...the "modifer" comes in a little small round bottle...so make sure you get the container that looks like the picture above... I baught 1 quart of the Friction Modified and 2 quarts of the regular Transmission Fluid for my car and ended up with about a 1/2 quart of the regular fluid first... put in the Friction Modified first before the regular fluid.
I previously was running Redline MTL in my tranny the past 3-4000 miles and decided to switch over to this stuff cause I didn't like the way 3rd into 4th felt. Nothing was grinding, just didn't feel as smooth as I'd expect it to be. Anyhow, they call this stuff Jesus Juice for your tranny so I thought to myself "what the hell, I'll give it a shot" and guess what... I've used in the other B-Series motors regular 10w30 before, Honda MTF and just previously a Redline product, now this GM Synchromesh and I'll tell yea what, I've never felt a honda tranny shift through gears so smoothly... It takes a few hundred miles for the stuff to start feeling like its doing anything (500-1000 miles) but wow... Sounds crazy to use a GM product on a honda, but I'd strongly recommend this product to anyone.. Supposively this stuff takes away synchro grinding, etc... after about 1500-2000 miles...
Here's the link to where I origionally read about this stuff... you folks might wanna try this stuff out sometime... works AWESOME!!!!

Thanks for the info. Seems like a lot of us have synchro grind problems due to extreme driving. I've always recommended Honda MTF, and use it exclusively because I had synchro grind with other products, but I'm open-minded to this "JESUS JUICE", if my synchro grind ever returns, I'll try it.
the GM Synchromesh is really a great product... Smoothed out my shifting 200%. My brother has a B16 that has started to grind 2nd so he just put the GM stuff in his tranny and its been about 5 days now and his problem is getting lesser and lesser each day he says... Also, this might sound crazy as well but I have a buddy with a Prelude H22A in a Hatch and for some reason he can't shift into Reverse anymore... He called up the place he baught the motor from and they said try the GM stuff first and see if Reverse starts working again before they just replace the entire tranny so he's gonna go buy some GM stuff today and see if it eventually solves the problem.
If you have a problem getting your car into reverse, just let out the clutch so that the lay shaft in your transmission goes into neutral and then push the clutch back in to put the car in reverse. I guarantee that you won't have any problems going into reverse if you do that.
I concur with Kabob. I don't remember where I first heard this but if you have occasional trouble getting it back into first, put it in 2nd and THEN go to first. Works every time; like butter. Something to do with gear/synchro alignment - over my head but it works.
93,000km so far...most is race... (85 track days in all, and counting)
used Castrol Syntec last 2 years = no problems....this year Redline MTL= no problems......
I'm starting to think that most tranny/synchro problems can be traced back to harsh shifting practices.....

Well here's the update... Brother's car is somewhat getting better but I think 2nd gear in his car is just shot... as for my friend with the H22A Hatch without Reverse, I was literally amazed... he put in the GM fluids and within like 5 minutes reverse started working again and has been like new... His exact comments were "holy shit it worked... damn thing shifts so smooth now, its like it was a brand new tranny, can't beleive it".
