I doubt it , the a/c compressor runs ultra hot to begin with and is designed to withstand heat. But sure, over the long term more heat is definitely not beneficial. The biggest problem I had concerning a/c with the kit, is the turbo sits exactly where the a/c pipe used to be, so I was going to have a custom a/c pipe made, but then other priorities like going fast distracted me, now it's no longer an issue. In Michigan it does get hot in the summer but I'm barbaric like that, It just means I have to drink more beer (one Heineken please.) Not while driving ofcourse.

It's true that you can have some crashes with the road with a big downpipe, attached is a picture of the shield I had welded onto my pipe (props to Kurt Ziem - my welder)

Please excuse the oil (cheap Mugen fake oil cap leaked)
You can see the scratches on the shield, but it's stainless, It will take years before it wears through. I only let it hit 2 times, I forgot to be extra careful on certain Michigan roads!!

That may help if the rest of the exhaust system is less than 3", but looking at the design, it is not very conducive to flow. Having that branch off like that is going to hurt flow. The only way to prove it is to put a pressure sensor or gauge after the turbo, and datalog the backpressure between this and a proper exhaust. I would be interested in seeing the data.

Kang, test engineer is my title at work, I'm a business major (soon to be BBA)
From my experience, most "engineers" are idiots. I do have extreme respect for Japanese engineers though, especially Honda engineers.
