I think 2 of your best options for sound and power are the SMSP and Hytech custom exhausts. Both are a little exspensive. SMSP is true 2.5" though.

ALso the Buddy Club SPec exhausts are sweet and light but ear bleeding loud.

I personally want the quietest exhaust possible.

Installed cutom catback and gained 8hp to wheels. Also took off top of airbox.

Well...you asked for it, here is my review:

John at HyTech sent me my header back and my exhaust...and I must say that the quality of the product is second to none, but the pictures will verify that to you.

Sits a little lower than I would prefer, going to correct that with installing smaller rubber hangers when I have a chance, and yes that is the incorrect Type-R sticker on the back of the car .

Dyno Testing

Car facts -
Comptech icebox and intake
Mugen headgasket(no correction to cam gears, roughly at -1.5, -1.5)
Hondata intake manifold gasket, street setup

Run#33 - Testing was done as delivered...just hoping on the dyno and seeing what the car put out.

Run#35 - Just bolted on the HyTech header and HyTech exhaust, test pipe was used.

Run#48 - tuned Hondata and cam gears, realized that the injectors were at 101% duty cycle after 1 run with the hondata, added an FPR to increase fuel, currently at ~60psi, hose on under full throttle(thanks to Michael Yun).

And the 2 things that made my day...

1. HyTech header with 18" extension(test pipe) vs HyTech with full exhaust, simply removed the b-pipe.

2. My old setup vs current...old setup had Toda B's, Toda valve springs, PowerFC, RC 440's, HyTech header, carsound cat, Comptech exhaust, Comptech icebox and intake

Summation...damn this car is fast, it pulls very hard all the way to redline, 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are accompanied with wheel spin with the Azenis...sound wise the exhaust is by far one of the quietest that I have heard...it is on similar to the Mugen, but deeper, hopefully I can get Bob aka Bob#455 on Honda-Tech to take some video of the exhaust so that I can post up what it sounds like.

The car was able to run a 13.8 1/4 mile with a burnt clutch, consistant 13.9 with a 2.2 60ft time...enough for me to win the NHRA bracket 1 races at Sears Point September 8th.

I would like to thank John at HyTech for finally shipping me the exhaust , and I would like to thank Lawrence and Dick at DynoSpot Racing for allowing me to use their facilities at a very discounted rate for this comparison, and Lawrence...thanks for the awesome tune, damn this is a fun car to drive again =), Mike Marsey(Rboosted) thanks for the help with the installation.

Thermal Research and Development...3"

And if you want to get a turbo get a Drag3 from importparts.com, the best prices that I have seen, and pretty good customer service.

I like the Mugen Sports Exhaust, because it's fairly quiet, and it's made for the Type-R...not running any type of Forced Induction in mind.
