I have just recently noticed a slight rattle almost metal against metal sound with my exhaust when ever lI let off the accelerator as the rpms drop around 2k rpm. I know for a fact that the exhaust is not rusting or that the hangers are on wrong. It only happens when I am decelerating. It sounds as if it is coming from the muffler it self. This is a '98 GSR SS COmptech Cat back. Any ideas? Thanks for any HELPFUL thoughts.

Splater pan near the cat. converter? i had to rip mine out one it was bent up from being scraped up from the original owner and was losse so was rattling

I had the exact same problem with my 01 GSR and comptech cat back. Everyone told me it was probably the heat shield on the cat or the cat it self. Turns out it was the b-pipe portion, and it had to be replaced. I believe comptech is familiar with this problem.

Did Comptech replace it under warranty or did you have to purchase a new one? Do you know what the problem was?
