Default Comptech exhaust?

Who has owned a comptech catback exhaust. i have read about some problems on their forum with people talkin about rattling sounds, cracking and other issues with the exhaust. Im not sure if this is just a minority of the percentage of people who have bought their exhaust or if their actually is a problem with the quality in which their products are made. I am planning on buying thier intake kit along with thier headers and the exhaust. The thing is that their parts are expensive even with deals that i am getting. I want to keep my car STREET LEGAL and also another reason for getting their products is because they fit with no problems, its like comptech is to acura as AMG is to Merc. If anyone knows of any problems about thier products or anyother products from companies that are of high quality please post. thankx

Hello :wavey:

Check out my sig...no problems so far.

It is rumored that there are two "batches" of comptech products, with the early ones having all those problems you listed. Just a heads up.

If you went out and bought a brand new exhaust you would most likely have no problems.

What are you looking for in an exhaust? You have to decide on how much more agressive than stock you want it to sound, what sort of look to the canister, and how much you plan on increasing the output of the motor on down the line.

My friend has had his comptech exhaust on his r for about a year now and it still looks brand new. no rattling or anything. he only purchased the rear end portion of the exhaust though, from the axle back...so i dunno if the catback would be any different.

I have the comptech catback exhaust, and i wouldn't trade it for anything. There are no problems, it looks and sounds sick too. Also its totally stainless so it will last for ever.

Prices have risen since I bought mine unfortunately.

ps. Stainless steel is a must for any catback exhaust system.

pps. Comptech is by no means a quiet exhaust.

I guess the only other exhaust i would consider would be Apexi World Sport series. U said the exhaust by comptech is by no means quiet. Does it get annoying at all or is just really throaty. I/H/E This is all i will do to my car im not gonna put any more money in to it (Mr Fat Booty).

I have gone through 2 cat-back exhaust systems in two years. Both of my Comptech B-pipes cracked in the same place...right in front of the resonator at the weld. In my opinion it's not worth the money for the hassle i've put up with since buying the exhaust.
