b16a and b16a2
There are more than two transmissins which have been used with variants of the B16 over the years. For the most part they are all similar except for the Y1 which was used in the original '88-'91 Civic and CRX SiR and had a 4.266 final drive ratio instead of the 4.4 final drive used in all the others.
I have found the difference between any Ax engines to be minimal. I have a B18A3 on my Teg and the only difference is that my ECU comes without an exygen sensor!!!! Not required by emmision regulations where I am at!! Same exact case on my G2 and G3 tegs!
I didn't talk about tranny because the engine model (being B16a1 or a2 etc) dose not imply by any means any specific tranny. It could be fitted with limited slip Y tranny or auto or manual depending on where the car was sold. Correct me if am wrong. Therefore, I drifted into engine specs rather than tranny. My bad.
You are correct, although most of the assorted B16Ax variants are all equipped with the same gear ratios. There are a bunch of different part numbers but the ratios match. Most of the different combinations of ratios were of the older cable clutch variety and those were all B16A or B16A1.
