Default Maint Reqd Light

I need help. I have a 95 LS, 5spd. stock. for some reason when i start my car it revs up to ilke 1500rpms, and then the MAINT REQD light blinks exactly 10 times. I was told that maybe me oil needed to be changed, it was due anyways, so I did that. But it is still doing the blinking game. Any one have this happen to them before, or know what I should do, aside from taking it to have a mechanic diagnose it.

the high idle is most likely the car warming itself up.

the maint required light is programed to come on at certain intervals according to the mileage. first itll start off as a couple blinks, then advance to more, then eventually i think it will just sit there for a few seconds.

but anyway, it was programed so that you will be reminded to change your oil. you can turn it off fairly easily. there is a button under the dash. it is a square button can be found on the edge of the panel that goes under the steering wheel.

what you want to do is have the car turned off. hold the button down. turn on the engine. the light should now have a long blink, then turn off. then release the button.

or you could just sit there with your car on....hold that button for like 10 seconds until the light goes off, and let go of the buttom. it's a little more simple that way.

FYI, that damn light will come on every 7,500 miles.
