I meant what I said about running a cat. Smog sucks. I know from experience.
well the real cat is back on and the top end surge and raspy exhaust tone is gone, but some low-end torque and mid-range is welcome return.

Right on! :goodjob: When/ if you get to building the car for major FI or nitrous, I'd again look into a high-flow cat. But I'm glad to see you've switched back.

[BTW, my earlier comment was aimed toward others who probably haven't experienced really bad pollution first-hand.]

Nope, over here on the "right" side of the country, all our pollution blows out to sea. All we get is crap from mid-west industry... maybe I should tell you westerners to use cats so your crap doesn't blow over here. :chuckles:

:db: We've been doing that and much more in Cali for decades. It's Texas and the Midwestern states that J00 need to be talking to.

BTW, thanks for polluting the Bahamas, the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the Canary Islands, Ireland, France, the Iberian Peninsula, and the Atlantic Coast of Africa. :fawk:

My pleasure. If they don't like the fresh smell of Rotary hydrocarbons in the morning... well, I guess they don't have a choice, now do they?

:lmao:Hah! Yep, it's just too goddamned bad for them..

:shocked:I can't believe I just said that. h:

EDIT: Then we should blame China for our air pollution then, right?? According to this theory of global deferred responsibility :chuckles: , everyone is pissing in someone else's pool...

ANYWAY....

The reason you got an O2 sensor efficiency code is because the rear O2 sensor is there specifically to see if the cat is doing its job. It compares its readings with the front sensor and within the ECU there's a range of differences which indicate you're actually running a cat. Go outside the range and you get a code. If you run a straight pipe or gutted cat, that will obviously put you outside the range.

that gets me thinking would there be something you could do like idk...put a resistor on the wire to the oxygen sensor to trick the ecu into thinking that car is running in the propper range?

That's basically what an O2 simulator does.

Hey, Titusville! I have family down there, I visit once or twice a year.
