That's a lil' to short for me, but I like the idea. Would you friend be able to do that for me for a reasonable price?

yeah, you will just have to send him the shifter. ill ask him what he wants for the job. you will have to say how short you wanna go if you think mine is too short. he said the removed pieces measure an inch and 7/8's total.

well, it looks awkward. but aside from that, i imagine it feeling awkward; as in, when i go to shift, it'll feel like the shifter isn't in the right spot, or something.

anyhow, i can't actually say until i try it, but this is what i'm thinking when i look at that.

right your argument makes plenty of sense... the first ride took a little getting used to but since then, it has been fine... i forgot how the original size felt

If you want to go cheap on the shifter you might as well get something like a Tenzo for 30 bucks that actually shortens the throw without making the knob so far down.

the idea wasnt to shorten the throw, it was make the knob further down... strictly for looks, fashion over function.

i was going for the look that BMW's and some other luxury sport cars have

by the way, it isnt a chinsy job, he put them in the drill press and there are threaded bolts inside it.... no amount of hell will break this thing... i might even go as far as saying that it is stronger than stock

Those cars' shifters don't stick up from the console as much because they are mounted directly to a longitudinally mounted gearbox which is directly underneath the console, which just so happens to be taller than in a fwd car with a transversely mounted drivetrain.

You must have long arms, because the shifter being that low just looks like an annoyance to reach for.

I think you definitly acclomplished what you were going for. It does look good and I doubt many ppl will disagree with it on those terms. Don't know about function but good goin on the looks.
