Default timing question

i need to set my timing, but i can't seem to see any of the marks on the crank pulley. wtf is wrong with me? can they rub off or something? they're supposed to be on the inner lip of the pulley around where the alternator belt spins, correct?

also, i set it with the white mark (if i can find it) for normal timing, right?

thanks!

Those timing marks tend to disappear after a few years. Look at the pulley really close and you'll probably see the little nicks with a little red and white left in them. Hit it with some touch-up paint and you're ready to go.
