Panawan: I didn't know NSX's have the same color code. I guess thats where they got it from or aqquired it. Also, you can conferm the 2 colors are different besides what you said? Did you actually call the acura dealership about the two colors? or did you just ask for the center caps and thats what they told u? I need to find a local acura dealership because I think the nearest one is like 30 miles away (long distance call). Thanks panawan.

I don't think anybody's mentioned before that there's a difference in colour between the two years, and that's something to add to the detailed, useless information that people are always craving.

George: If this isn't settled by June then I know of an event where one can compare a large number of 00 and 01 wheels... not really scientific but..

calling acura seems easier.

The idea of the two different colours was just a theory that I had because of the numerous people who had stated the colour as Solaris, when my information had shown it to be Kaiser. I actually contacted the dealership today and asked for the part number and paint code for the '00 wheel and '00 centre cap, as well as the number and code for the '01 wheel and '01 centre cap. The part numbers for both wheel and cap are identical for both years, as is the paint code - Kaiser Silver. What this still doesn't explain is the difference in the texture of the spokes on the '01 wheels that I have personally noted. Perhaps Honda switched to this texture in '01 and kept the same part number, similar to how the '98 shifter is black and the '00+ is polished, even though there is only a single part number for both.

Both these paint colors were originally formulated for the NSX. Kaiser Silver Metallic was an available exterior paint color for the '97-99 NSX. Solaris Silver was the paint color of the stock wheels on the '94-96 NSX.

These two colors are very similar. However, the texture is slightly different; the metallic aspect of the paint on Kaiser Silver body panels is more prominent (bigger metal particles), although not quite as prominent as the Silverstone Silver Metallic color introduced on the NSX in 2000. The metallic aspect of the paint on Solaris Silver wheels is duller (smaller metal particles), giving them that gunmetal look instead of looking like a metallic body color. I have had '94-96 NSX wheels side by side with '00-01 ITR wheels and they look absolutely identical.

However, both these two paint colors are close enough - and touch up paint on metallic colors is difficult enough to blend - that you won't see much difference in results between either of these two colors when used on ITR wheels. Both are very very close, even though neither is so exactly the same that the touched up portion blends imperceptibly with the original portion. So go ahead and use either one. (I use the Solaris Silver on mine.)

There is no intentional difference in color between '00 ITR wheels and '01 ITR wheels. However, it's possible that the color of wheels changed slightly at some point, which could have occurred even in the middle of the model year and/or when different batches of wheels were produced.
