B18C5 swap; throwing codes..
hey guys
swaped a 1999 JDM type r into a 2000 GSR using orginal
GSR harness and USDM P73 ECU. Throwing the following
codes and have one sensor plug unplugged; no idea
where it goes. I'm a novice.
CEL codes:
6 = ECT
22 = VTEC oil pressure switch
63 = O2 sensor
86 = ECT circuit
the dealship in cleveland did the swap; they know nothing.
Car is at home with me and it won't idel right; VTEc won't kick
in and throwing the above codes..
pictures of the sensor unplugged; which i was told by the
delership was the coolan sensor; but there is a plug on
the thermostat housing already; so don't know what this is:

JDM engines do not have a VTEC oil switch..we had this problem when swapping a JDM GSR/Si-R B18C motor into his Civic EX. I bet this is your sensor that is unplugged. We tried swapping my VTEC solenoid to his motor and it would not work so we had to jerry-rig it by cutting the plug and splicing the wires. Off the top of my head I am not sure which wires but I can check tomorrow and will link him this thread through IM. Also his name is Slacker on this board if you want to shoot him a PM.
Not sure what ECT codes those are...sorry can't help there.
As for the O2 sensor did you reuse yours or use the one that came with the car?
As for the idle and VTEC not kicking in your car is in limp mode and will be that way till the oil pressure switch is fixed. Although I am not sure about the ECT.
:EDIT:
I just looked at your pics and that is not your VTEC oil pressure switch. Can you take some pics of the VTEC solenoid for me...you should have a switch there that goes to nothing having put a JDM motor into a USDM car.
I will also look tomorrow at my buddies engine and take some pics to see what the deal is with his engine on how we got the oil pressure to work and to see what that switch is.

So I figured it out one by one yesterday.
The ECT plug and the VTEC plug are 2 pin; right next to each
other. The shop had plugged in the VTEC plug into the
head where the ECT plug was supposed to go. Has mentioned
above; my JDM engine does not have a VTEC oil pressure
switch. I reset the ECU and the only code I have now
is the VTEC oil pressure switch (22).
I took the soleniod off of my blown GSR engine; but of course
the oil pressure switch itself is missing. I'm going to try
and swap this soleniod in and with a new oil pressure switch
to see if this solves the problem..
if not; i'm going to have to pick your brain on how to bypass
this by splicing the wires. Thanks!
Peace.
The O2 sensor code went away after I reset the
ECU; no idea why it was throwing that in the first place,
but its gone now,so whatever!

Glad it worked out for you. Let me know when you get the oil pressure switch and if you need extra help.

This seems like alot of hassle for not much gain. no offense but why ppl are so into JDM is beyond me. It's not that much hp to be doing all that work for me. Plus you have to deal with drama like you're having here. Why didn't you just fix your gsr motor?
