smoked 98+ tails?
I saw a girl drive past in a 98+ integra GS the other day and noticed that the areas around the actual lights looked darker, almost black. Is this what people mean when they talk about "smoked" tail lights? Looked kinda neat. Anyone know how it's done?

Smoked is like a black clear lens like for this vw gti
I think they look great, never seen them on a integ though, If I found one, I would buy it because it would look great on my silver integ

bleh. think that would look weird on my black gsr. I like the contrast of the red against the black.
What could she have done to the tails to achieve that look then? doesn't look like she painted on the outside. Must have dismantled the light assembly and done something...

i did it to mine. i sanded the lights w/ 600 grit paper and sprayed them with "window tint" paint, or trasparent black. then i used rubbing compound and rubbed off the paint on the reverse light part and rubbed some of it off down the center of the light so the edges would be darker. dont make it too dark though, because then your lights are hard to see. then if you want, you can clear coat the whole thing to keep it from fading. i would post pics, but mine started fading because i didnt clear coat it, so i just took it all off.

this was during the day and I didn't get a really good look at them but I'm pretty sure they were just altered 98+ USDM. that was the only modification done to the car. Didn't look like they were too into JDM whoever they were.
