lower tie bars
I'm thinking about buying some front and rear lower tie bars for my car. However, there are more rear tie bars available than the fronts. Is the front necessary? Will I notice any difference?
I want to get skunk2 tie bars, but they only make a rear. Other brands I'm considereing are Spoon, Cusco, and Neuspeed; which make both front and rear. Are there brands that are better than others? If so, which? Any comments would be appreciated.

The front bar does help somewhat but it hangs down under your header and has a tendency to scrape on the ground a lot, especially if your car is lowered.
If you haven't upgraded your rear sway bar yet the best option is to get the Comptech rear sway and tie bar combo.

That's the combo setup that allows the GS-R to mount a tie bar similar to the Type R and also a nice sway bar right?
Hrm... do you know if that will have clearance issues with the GReddy Evo exhaust?
The combo includes a lower tie bar that mounts to the subframe and a sway bar that mounts to the tie bar. The swaybar is not really much different in external size than the stocker so I can't imagine there'd be any clearance issues. This is what it looks like.
Just get the Comptech rear sway-tie bar combo. It adjustable, works, and fits perfectly. It's one product that actually fits perfectly the first time during install and still hasn't made any funky noises. Here's mine:

Nice... Install went easily I trust... did you rack your car up, or was it not a problem to just put it on jackstands?
Also, I found it for $380 shipped... you know of a better price?

Cusco's bars are non-adjustable, which is good for rigidity, but makes for a hard install in some cases. The Spoon bars are great too, but they hang pretty low (especially the front), and their mounting brackets can bend.
I know a number of people (I hate saying that, but these are my close friends) who have actually snapped their front lower tie bars (Spoon and Cusco and Generic). They went to do an oil change, and noticed that their bars were snapped. That said, I'd stick to a generic Ebay one so you dont have to worry about having wasted too much money.

Heres my rear suspension setup.
I test fitted a Spoon Front lower tie bar and it was like 2 inches off the ground. No thanks. I think the factory brace on the steering rack/crossmember works fine.
Oh yeah, those pics were taken with the car on the ground, so you can see the suspension angles and exhaust clearance for the sway bar.
