JDM 4-1 ITR Header or Comptech?
Just a quick opinion question:
The JDM 4-1 ITR header and the Comptech 4-2-1 TIG are great headers.
Between these two, which one would you use, and why?

While "The Great Header Test" is indeed a good resource I would not treat it as the absolute guide. All of the headers were tested on close-to-stock ITRs which is to say not your run-of-the-mill RS/LS/GS or even a GSR with bolt ons.

Well it kind of depends on what else you plan on doing with the car. If you have a concrete plan to build up the motor then I would go with the JDM ITR for its 2.5" collector and have a custom 2.5" cat back system fabbed up to match it. If you're just sticking with bolt ons including the exhaust then I would get the Comptech.

Thanks for the input!
Currently, I am under factory warranty, and just want to work with bolt on improvements (I/TB/IM/VAFC/H/C/E). After the warranty is out, I want to do cams and some other internals. My HP target is ~200 naturally aspirated and still be a reliable daily driver with good gas mileage. I don't know if the 2.5" header and exhuast are really required for this configuration, or if the ususal 2.25" header and 60mm (2.36") exhaust combo will work equally well.
Also to consider: If I go JDM/Custom 2.5", will running a 2.5" system on a basically stock motor for 2 years actually be BAD? One of the main things I love about my teg is the reliability. I want to be quicker without compromising that.

Going full 2.5" before you get the cams will not *hurt* anything, it's just that your motor in its current state will not be able to take advantage of the extra flow capacity available in the exhaust. Also depending on what muffler you decide to go with it might be a bit insanely loud or it could also sound good. I would go with a place that can custom mandrel bend stainless steel piping and use a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. If you're willing to tolerate some more noise then I would get a Dynomax Ultraflo SS muffler. You can use something like a Cherry Bomb or Dynomax Race muffler as a "resonator" on the B-pipe (between the cat and the muffler).
