My vtec controller usually says like sometimes 700 to 900 its normal. Anyway my car has a JG Edlebrock tb on it and i have the same problem with the idle serge. My local performance shop was telling me that my TPS voltage on the back of my tb has to get tuned, which should fix the ilde serge. I dont know if this helps but i'll try it.

My 94 LS has the problem where idle is high (1500) until it warms up. Similar problem?

I've heard that dealers have a rebuitl kit for IAC (about $20). Anybody have experience with this?

What is procedure for cleaning the IAC

thanks

regular idle is 750 +/- 50 ... of course it will idle high to give a faster warm up. When the idle starts to jump more than 200RPMs over and over, that an IACV.

Sounds like its probably not the IAC in my case then. Fat idle goes away after its warmed up, 1500 RPM for 5 to 10 minutes seems excessive. Idle is stable after that. No bouncing. I see another thread abot FITV. Maybe that is the problem.

BTW, I don't know if this applies to Acuras but, I went through IAC problem on my '97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. Dealer wanted to replace valve for $300 plus. Turns out there is known problem with idle adjust screw losing its locking cap and backing itself out. A few turns of the screw and some silicone to lock it and problem solved. IT seems the screw gets so far out of place, the IAC servo loop can't make any sense out of the readings it gets and the servo position, so it hunts and idle goes up and down. Mybe this applies somehow to hondas/acuras too?
