it was around 80-85 its close to redline for me. I changed the oil about 2 weeks ago. we were going about 110 the whole way back. I thought my t-belt snapped but when i took the valve cover off it was fine and i noticed the hole in the block. I just have intake and exhaust. I had nitrous for a while but took it off about 3 months ago. I ran a 65 shot.

110 would've been in 4th... you didn't misshift into 3rd, did you?

no. we were going about 110 the whole way and slowed down bc of traffic. Then went into third at about 80 and it wouldnt climb any more.

90ish is my third gear redline, 120 is 4th gear redline.

i love 80 in 3rd... sounds so good, 90 in third sounds even better. but if i were you, buy that motor, build it up a little, and then turbo that bish. that will be one sweet ride. sorry about your luck

175 is good for an LS motor.

ok, little confused on something -- Type-R vs GS-R -- are we talking the same thing here? I think so because if I look at integra engines online for parts, I never see any called "Type-R". Anyway, that said, you should swap up to type-r or gsr or whatever and look into getting JDM engines. They're generally much better for performance. There are some people who swear by them and others who hate them. Biggest thing I've noticed is that you can throw away your chilton's, it doesn't apply. You're kinda stuck figuring it out for yourself.

ok, so I read through the rest of the posts and I feel the need to put this up here because, well, I think it might save some people some engines.

Mainly, don't redline your cars. I mean, I like driving fast -- I know my acura's top speed, I've hit it. Hell, I hold drag races with my friends out front of my house. But look, doing 90 in 3rd is only useful if it gets to 90, then you bump up to 4th, and that's only for accellerating. The powerband sits around 4500 to just into the redline, and it peaks around 6 if I remember correctly, so you don't want to sit that high on the RPMs. Also, if you're cruising at 110, just sit in 5th. If you arent' accellerating, go to the highest gear that will maintain your speed. Better gas mialage, easier on the engine, and you can always downshift if some punk in a golf thinks he has a real car.

General rule of thumb: be in the highest gear you can without losing performance. It won't hurt your driving and your car will love you for it.

Hope this saves soem people some money.

I second that notion. My friend was driving my car bc i have a red license. I didn't mind him driving it before but he redlines it everywhere when he drives it. I dont blame him for the engine blowing but i dont think ill let him drive very much anymore. especially with the new engine in it. He keeps it in the lowest gear possible all the time and cruises down the road at like 5000 rpm. I have to tell him to upshift. Those words were definetly some words of wisdom. This sucks. i was up til two in the morning working on getting the engine out and i was late to work this morning and now im down 1000 bucks too. O well tho, live and learn right.
