main differences between ITR and GSR valvetrain?
i was wondering the main differences between ITR and GSR valvetrain because I want to pick up some ITR or CTR cams but do i really need to upgrade my valvetrain for these cams? I dont want to rev that much higher, if higher at all. but i know a chip would help to change the vtec kick in points. maybe lower it 500 rpm or something. any input would be great.
The GS-R's intake cam is the same as the ITR's exhaust cam, so all you'd have to do is get better springs and retainers, move your intake cam to the exhuast side, and put in an ITR intake cam... bam, ITR cam profiles...
And get a Hondata or a VAFC if you want to change your VTEC engagement

Way down on the page under Camshafts, Valve Springs, and Valves there's a brief description of the difference between the GSR and the ITR valvetrains.

ummmm i think you're mistaken there. gsr intake and itr exhaust VALVESPRINGS are the same. not the cams
also LMA's

are you positively sure the valve springs are exactly the same? so all i have to do is replace ITR cams? i dont want to blow up my motor.

You're right
pretty much every thing is different on the itr and gsr valve train.
intake and exhaust cams are different, both valve springs are different, but you could get itr intake valve springs then move your gsr intake valve springs to the exhaust side and install the new itr intake valve springs, intake valve is also different on itr.
if you wana use itr cams but not change the springs you could do that also but remember that gsr valvse springs are weaker than itr so your valves may float sooner, which means you can't take it that high of an rpm. as with itr springs

If you are going to take it apart, why are you even thinking about not putting on new springs. Sometimes saving a few dollars ends up costing you a lot of dollars
