yup if you go by the vin # you could tell its real.

 

JH4DC231xxxxxxxxx means it is a real R. Plus it has no sun roof, but so does an RS, but yeah usually when it has JH4DC2 it is a 2 door integra. the 31 signifies that it is an R.

 

RS and LS vins starts with jh4dc4
type r and gsr vins starts with jh4dc2
and yes 31 signifies its a itr.
but for quick reference
dc2 sunrrof=gsr
dc2 non sunroof=itr
dc4sunroof=ls
dc4 non sunroof=rs

Good looking car, if its what it says it is then it should be a good deal. 97 was the first year for ITR and I believe they only made 500 that year, of course you guys probably know this already.
