i plan to do this silverstar conversion for my fog lights on my Toyota Matrix. And the fog lights use 9006 bulbs and so i want to put the 9005's in them.

are there any side effects that i should know of before i do this conversion? overload on the head light circuit? melted head light housing? any thing? i just dont want to mess anything up on my car. does the 55watt to 65 watt make more heat in my head light housing? or drain more power?

Did a search allready. No results.

Seriously...it's safe...tons of people on this board have done it and none of them have reported any problems.

Just don't touch the bulb with your hands and you will be fine.

 

As long as you have projector style lenses for your low beams then there are no down sides. Unless you have the projector style lenses then I would definatly say not to do it. The light isn't focused and you may get brighted by oncoming traffic.

 

Yeah, what he said. Other than that, zero negatives. Standard 9005's (which Silverstars are) are really 60W, and 9006 is really 51W. I've had 9005 bulbs in my Integra projectors for a year now with zero problems.
