Default Help b18 rebuild

Ok i have a 90 acura teg LS b18 a1
im gonna rebuild my bottom half stock i was wondering if my stock rods will handle 7500 rpm? Main thing is wtf should i do with my head should i just rebuild my head with performance parts or i have also heard that i could benifit from a b16 head for more compresion and higher revs dont know if thats true but thats y im here now and if it is true what should i pull the head off of?

if i do keep my stock head i was gonna machine the shit out of it i make a ok amount of money so i have a little to play with.

last thing before it blew up it had a messed up idle problem it would rev from about 1k to 2500 rpm at idle i was told it may be my IAC (idle air control) but i pulled about 3 off junk cars and they never worked PLZ HELP i hated that crap

any help would be greatly appreciated

No, unless they are shot peened first.

The B16A PR3 head is only going to give around a .3 point boost in compression, so there is not significant difference. That choice is up to you, a B18A PR4 non-VTEC head can be built to perform just as well as a B16A PR3 VTEC head, however the PR3 will always be more reasonable at idle. The VTEC valvetrain is also a little stronger, however the non-VTEC head can still be used in a good performance build.

I would also have said EACV/IAC, but I guess that's not the issue.

With stock cams, stock springs and stock retainers? Stock redline. There is no point in going over that anyway, you will not make any extra power up there with the stock cam profile.

Stock redline. If you don't replace the springs and retainers, you may get valve float for anything more aggressive then a Crower 402 (a mild cam.) You need higher rate aftermarket springs and retainers for high rev applications.

Don't rev higher then stock redline with a stock bottom end, either.
