Default Spring Suggestions for H22 Civic

Ok, I finally have the ducks to ditch my stock suspension...

I was set on getting a set of springs from Progress Auto because they make a springrate specific to the H-series in my 5G Civic.

A buddy of mine keeps trying to talk me into getting some Neuspeeds with the spring rate for an integra instead. He gets a discount on the Neuspeeds plus that is what he has for his LS/Vtec....

I want educated comparisons/opinions of the two springs for the H-series in the 5G Coupe so any posts would be appreciated  or  ...let me here your thoughts

I wouldn't argue with Progress R&D. Most springs out there (read: neuspeed) maintain a factory-like understeer bias. Teg rates wont help you much in that department. If Progress thinks they've found what works, go with them.

...OR, you could call them up, and ask what spring rates they use, and order ground controls of the same rate. :rick:

Thanks for the intelligent response... I thought for sure I'd get a bunch of H-series flamers.

Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with Progress. I'd do ground control but I can't afford coil overs if that's what you were referring to.

I don't see myself doing any autox anytime soon untill I make some major upgrades to the suspension so Progress should do just fine.

Thanks again:thumbup:

Any other susggestions out there besides what's already been mentioned?...

no problem You should still call them up and ask what spring rates they use. I'm curious and too lazy to do it myself.

Progress springs. They are design to be correctly balanced for your car with your engine. That makes all the the difference. Make sure to get struts too, while your at it.

Thanks everyone for reassuring my thoughts and it is a done deal. Last Friday I ordered the Progress Auto springs for the H22 in the civic and got some Tokico HP (blues). Can't wait until they get here:thumbup:

you know i have a 92 cx, and i have never had a understeer problem...accually it only happened when i tried it. Maybe its that the people that say it doesnt handle good are people that dont have the swap. I mean i have quite a bit of suspension mods (skunk2 f/r tower bars, lower tie, h&r springs, tociko strut, and full bushing fit, and oh yeah AN ALIGNMENT) but its ok to think that a h22 in a civic cant autox, cause at least the b series have SOMETHING on h-series.
duh, and btw, if you DO have a h22 and think it understeer, either learn to drive or do the right mods..and releanr how to drive
lol

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty experienced autocrossing a number of different cars. No one is saying an H22 civic can't handle. It can't handle as well as a B series civic. Thats just a fact. Just like a B-series civic can't handle as well as a D-series. You can't beat physics. Just because it doesn't understeer doesn't mean its handling to its full potential... BTW, what kinda swaybars you got on your cx?

^:nono: ...let's not :slap: where's the love?

pssst... B-seires guys are just jealous that we have bigger balls w/ the H-series... JK... LOL

Seriously though, it all depends on the driver. With the right suspension mods available and motor mounts that they have for this swap, the motor actually sits a lil behind the axles for better weight distribution... move your battery to the trunk as I have done and it gets a little better.

The only valid argument I see with stock vs stock is the red line difference between the H and B... but even that can be increased with the proper build up.:fawk:
