Accord Coupe Vs. TL (Interior)
A co-worker of mine has a brand new TL Type S; pretty much stock, no tint, no body kit or wing---in that electric blue color that seems so fitting for it. I have a 99 Accord EX V-6 Coupe, in San Marino Red, tinted out, OEM body kit and rear wing, fogs, exhaust tips---totally loaded. We most of the time take his car out to lunch (or another co worker of ours who has an 03 Maxima) because his vehicle is more practical with the four doors and all.
But I gotta tell ya---as much as I complain about my coupe's "smallish presence" on the roads compared to other mid size coupes in its class, sitting in my Accord's two front seats, you cant help but notice that there is a great deal more room up front in my COUPE than there is in this guy's TL SEDAN....I usually sit up front when we go out, and I swear, the dashboard layout and seating position is a lot more cramped in his four door SEDAN than in my Accord---the dash in my car and front seats just feel more "sweeping" and "open" compared to the TL. And he has even commented when sitting in my car, "man, you got A LOT of room in here for a sports coupe----A LOT..." Other people have commented about my car's interior room, as well; a friend of mine who recently moved to Florida from New York had just bought a new Jetta, and commented to me about all the room my two door has compared to his four door; just thought the interior room differences between my Accord and his TL were interesting to mention....all throughout the vehicles, on a side note, you can see the similar interior touches---the window switches are the same in the Accord and TL, the cream colored materials, the sunglasses holder, some of the gauges...aside from that, just thought I would share the fact that the 98-02 Accord Coupe's interior SEEMS or APPEARS to "feel" a bit more airy and sweeping than does the TLs...interesting...
I was considering going from the Accord 2-door into a TL with the body kit and wing and all; but the vehicle is still to small for me EXTERIOR wise; not enough body length. So Im going to be looking toward a domestic sedan of some kind---Bonneville, Grand Prix, 300M or Concorde...something HUGE.

In this day and age of SUVs and oversized pickups looming around us, you still feel content sitting in a low slung compact, when it feels like two tractor trailers are getting ready to sandwich you from the left and right while two Expeditions are in front and back of you? This appeals to you?

I just WANT a big car---and I dont mean big in the way of a Town Car or Crown Vic; or even an SUV for that matter----I mean "big" in terms of an aggressive-looking "large" sized sedan, such as the aforementioned GMs or Chryslers; you seem to to be one of those people weaned on compact import coupes and sedans, where the ride and handling seems more nimble because the size is down pretty low---but I happen to like the opposite effect from my vehicle---the "feel" of substantialness under the wheel; the "feel" of large amounts of body around me with a long, sleek overall length line...no, I am not 65, but what the hell does that have to do with anything???? There are NO middle-aged people----NONE WHATSOEVER---driving around in the large sized sedans I mentioned? None? I see them all the time.

BTW - I was weaned on a 1987 Buick Riviera. I turned into a car enthusiast because I like driving and like to drive a car that rewards me with more than the feeling of having a bigger penis and size. Noone ever said you aren't entitled to what you like, stop being defensive please. (I find it hilarious you think the 300M or Concorde or Grand Prix (which is smaller than the Accord) are agressive looking. They look like melted butter to me.

Maybe you should look at those early 90's Chevy Caprice Wagons, they are pretty "huge"...AND DOMESTIC!
Nothing says "aggressive" like applesauce suspension and 75 series tires.

My mom drives a Bonneville. She's 60 years old. While the 3800 motor isn't horrible, the thing handles like a sloth compared to my accord...even when my accord was bone stock.
Seriously though...On the topic here (if there is one)...
The Accord coupes were built to for 2 people and more in a pinch.
The TL and Accord sedans were built for 4 and five in a pinch.
So of course they are going to maximize the space in the coupe up front. But really...you can't say that the TL feels cramped. I have a feeling that if you put the seat all the way back you'd have a hard time reaching the pedals and steering wheel comfortably. I've never had a problem and I'm 6'1", not real tall, but not short either.
I think the TL is plenty look enough. I always have a hard time parking my car so it won't stick out. How much bigger do you really want? And no way that the 2 door Accord Coupe has more room than the TL. I drive my sister's 2 door Accord Coupe all the time and the TL is bigger both inside and out.

The Grand Prix and Concorde are SMALLER than the ACCORD?? Are you out of your mind----or just give me some of whatever it is you are smoking over there. You make people feel defensive because of how you put things, PLEASE PLEASE re-read your posts...damn, man. The GRAND PRIX you believe is SMALLER than the ACCORD? No way----not in exterior dimensions its not; I am talking exterior dimensions.
Let me get this straight----the Concorde and 300M arent aggressive looking to you....but the bread and butter I-look-like-every-other-Jap-sedan Accord IS AGGRESSIVE in appearance? You know something, this wasnt even the point of the post, dude...the point I was bringing up was the observations I made when I sat in my co workers TL and what he had to say about his and my vehicles, that was the point. I still stick to the fact that he and I agreed on the interior room differences between the two vehicles.

And listen, your mom isnt the only person driving a Bonneville out there on the planet----I see TONS and TONS of people my age driving the new SSEi's with the full leather packages, blacked out windows and chrome wheel upgrades; I see young people driving the 300M around here, too, so what is the point of saying that? What year is her Bonneville? If she's in the SSEi, I am having a hard time believing that a bone stock Accord out-handled that car....a very hard time...
And yes, the topic was the fact that I was making an OBSERVATION about my co-worker's TL and my Accord and the interior room differences; and my whole point was yes, it seems that that's what Honda has done with the two door Accord---maximize space up front for the two passengers because, in all fairness, a coupe is an indulgence for you and your anointed passenger----its an indulgence vehicle. But I am telling you, and even THE OWNER OF THE TL SWEARS BY THIS AND SAID IT TOO, that while not really "cramped," the front passenger position in the TL feels more "enveloped" ---- when sitting in the TL's passenger position, I looked at the dash and felt that it didn't seem as "sweeping" or "open" as a feeling my Accord gave from the same seat; thats all I was saying. I wasnt bashing one car or the other.

You may think that....but the OWNER of this TL Type S even agreed with me that he FEELS my coupe gives a more forgiving, sweeping presentation of the dash layout than in his sedan; and I never said anything about inside AND out----the outer dimensions of the TL are clearly larger---THATS A FACT. I was talking about the way the cabin seemed more spacious to the two of us, even after the owner of this TL got in my car, then his, then back to mine.....he couldnt deny the fact that front seating position for both passenger and driver seemed more forgiving in my vehicle----but this is probably because the two door, as stated, is built with the comforts of the front two passengers in mind, and thats really it. I never said the TL wasnt comfortable. Me, personally, I am looking for something much larger in the exterior dimensions of a vehicle----thats just my own preference; why cant anyone understand this? I just want a larger car; Im not trying to ram it down anyone's throats. I think larger vehicles make more dramatic appearances on the road. Just my opinion.
