Default Hid ?

I installed my HID system. It is 7000K system, more blue than optimal but it still ROCKS.

Question is....is it normal for them to start of quite blue/purple and then get whiter and brighter over the next 10-15 secs. I THINK i read that this is normal, just want to make sure.

Also, the ballasts/ignitors (Hella) have a nice little hum to them. This is normal I hope?

Ill post pics as soon as I can get my hands on a camera and develop the film (I bought HID instead of digi cam...sue me).

hope the 7000K work well in the rain.

as for the blue/purple turning whiter/brighter, yes, it's normal. it's the warm-up stage.

ballasts are electrical transformers. so if you've ever walked under an eletrical pole on the street and hear a buzzing sound, well, your ballasts are just smaller versions so yes, they'll buzz/hum.

What is HID? Home Internet Dialup: j/k USC hit it right on the spot. BTw, I myself love the Purple+blueish system, though it's really sux in the rain. 7th Gen Coupe + HID =

I know they aren't the best in the rain....I get plenty of snow in rochester though..hehe....actually, I had Silverstars on my car before these....and those things REALLY suck in the rain...you can't see them.

unfortunately it's the higher spectrum light that does poorly in the rain. if the 7000k came in 5000 lumens, they'd likely still perform worse in rain than the regular 4300k simply because of the color.

I bought my kit from some guy who had 4 bulbs actually. 2 7000Ks and two 4300s. Problem with the 4300s is that they are rebased. I didnt even try to stick those in even though I would probably like the 4300s a little better. I guess Ill just deal w/the rain or try the 4300s if it gets really bad. I just know that rebased never work well.

um... unless you have the unmodified d2r/d2s HID bulbs, else, all retrofit kits are "rebased". so if don't mind, could you clarify your definition of rebasing?
