how high can D16A6 valve springs rev?
In my autocross bracket, I'm allowed a modified ECU, which means I can increase redline. But, the block and head have to remain factory. So, how high can I rev a blueprinted engine (not balanced, it's not allowed) on new stock valve springs? My CRX is also my daily driver, so I have to make sure whatever limits I push, they'll allow the car to run hard on the track and run reliably the rest of the time. Thanks
I'm assuming you have to run a stock cam? If your stock cam isn't making any power past your stock redline, I don't see the point in revving any higher, unless it allows you to stay in the same gear throughout the course or something.
In the new super street, there is an article on cams. The issue of needing new valve springs came up, and one expert stated they've run mild race cams in honda engines up to 10,000 with stock valve springs.
With a stock cam, assuming you can fuel it consistently, remember, stock fuel maps wouldn't run above redline... you should be fine to at least 7k, don't underestimate our hondas. But if you have modified ecu all is well. As for daily driving reliability, if you aren't revving to 7 all day long, you should be fine with a higher rev limiter...
