D16Z6 Head Swap on a D16Y6
I'm considering swapping a D16Z6 head on my '98 Civic DX and I had a few questions that I hope someone can help me with.
First off, what additional hardware (besides the head) is required? ECU, harness, ect.?
Will I still be able to keep my OBDII equip. functioning properly?
What comp. ratio am I looking at w/a standard (thickness) head gasket?
Sorry for all the noob questions, I appreciate any help you can offer.

Essentially it's a mini-me, only newer.
Picture honda engine codes
ie. D16A6, D15B7, D16Z6, D16Y8, B16A, B18B1, B18C1, etc.
The first letter is the series of engine,
D-series, B-series, etc. (we all know there are many)
The first number is the displacement.
D16 = D-series 1.6 liters. B18 = B-series 1.8 liter
After that is essential stating what head it came with.
A6= 4gen si head Z6= 5g SI/EX head C1= GSR C5=ITR, etc.
Any 4th gen or new D-series head will fit on a D-series block, so the swap is doable.
To put a Z6 head on you D16Y6 would make you engine essentially a 6g EX engine, since the Y8 EX head is very similar. The best way to do this would be fine a 6th gen EX Ecu and add in the VTEC solenoid wires, you should be set...
Good luck...
