Default 1992 GS vs 1994 LS & type R swap

okay I have 2 questions.
1. I have a 1994 acura integra with 17 inch rs racing rims, and a AEM cold air intake. I ran my friends stock 1992 stock gs, and I lost to him by a quarter of car, although i had a bad launch, I ran him again and still lost. Im curious why the **** im losing to him, is it my tires? Is it cuz his car is lighter or what. My car has 108 thousand miles on it. I think i need a new clutch, maybe that will help? We ran about a 1/8 of a mile.

2. I want to go all motor, should i do a GSR-swap, or a Type-r Swap? In the long run with the same mods, a TYPE-R will kill the gsr correct? sorry, im just starting out in the racing scene. Everyone has to start out somewhere right! so sorry for the newb questions, I've been looking through the threads and I know everyone hates on newbs haha. peace.

I'm pretty new to these boards too, but from what I've seen so far racing isn't the main priority of most people. Anyway, if your going to race keep it safe and at the track if possible.

I don't know why you can't beat your friend, but as to your engine question, a Type-R engine does start out with more HP naturally so.. I would think that will be faster generally, but doing that swap is probably very expensive.

1.) You have 17" wheels. End of story.

2.) If you're willing to waste your money, go ahead and get the ITR motor. A complete swap for an ITR will probably cost your around 6 grand. Totally not worth it.

If you're looking for relativly cheap speed, I'd say go for a simple (or relatively simple) T03/04 turbo setup. A cheap effective setup will probably end up being about 3 grand installed, and when tuned properly, can probably have you pushing 230-240 hp and running decent times at the track.

Oh yeah, for the love of God, PLEASE keep your racing to a track.

OKay, i've been considering turbo. But I want my car to be a daily driver, not just a car for the track. If i turbo my car, dont i have to practically babysit it ?! And what are the consequences of turboing my car, like frequent problems, fuel mileage?, oil changes? etc......thanks for ur guys help!

as long as your car is properly tuned and you keep the maintence up, it will be fine.

turbo>gsr swap..... gsr swap>itr swap (jus cuase it is a lot cheaper) get rid of those 17's, and invest in a clutch master lightened fly wheel and stage 1 clutch. that will prolly be enough to take him then build on that
