Default Legal Advice

Whatsup everyone i have a situation.
This past september i gave this guy that i found threw the internet to do some work on my car and he also sells things wholesale. He did my axles and i bought other small items. I would go to his house and he would do the job. He worked for a shop at the time. He then said he could buy and install bigger and better items such as a valvetrain and other things. So i gave him the large amount of money. Every since then he has been giving me excuses it is now May! I have his cell phone, his house number, his old address he said he moved. His full name and i have some conversations on the internet and on the phone that i have saved. What should i do? Take him to court? I have witnesses at the time when i gave him the money or when i went to his shop and garage. I have his business card too. The one and very important thing i do not have is the receipts that he promised. Any advice would be appreciated with people that have already crossed this bridge.

Hey,
I think what you should do is go down to small claims court (if under $2000) and talk to someone down there and tell them your problem. most of the time as long as you have witnesses and all his info you should be able to sue him and either get the work done or get the money back. It's a hard way to learn a lesson but when doing things that involve a large amount of money you should always give a check or get a receipt, and have him write and sign a contract stating the work, price, and date(s) the two of you agreed to get the work done on.

Good luck and hope you can get your money back from this Jack A$$.

Well you have one problem that I can see and that's you don't know where he lives. 99% of the time when you file a claim they need an address, so he can be served with the papers, and if you don't have one they don't do the investigation work for you to find him. Did he ever say where he worked and do you remember? becuase you could have him served right there at work which makes him look bad in front of his employer. To be sneaky, if he moved and you don't know where you could try to talk to the post office and see if you can get the forwarded address for him. Just tell the post office that your name is his and say that you aren't getting you forwarded mail you want to see if their address on file is correct. This has work with me when I needed to track someone down. Besides that flaw of not knowing where he is you can sue him.
