Default motor build up

This is kind of a silly question , but is it worth the time effort and money to build up my f22. I know it will never be a h22 but how much potential does the f22 have if I spend the money I like the idea of having a fast all motor 5th gen , don't get me wrong turbos are the sh*# but I am wondering what kind of output I can get out of the f22.

thanks.

nowhere as much na output as with an h22.. however with a little head work you can boost the **** out of an f22... can't say as much for the h22

I'm am in the long process of building my f22b1 when the funds permit me... i'll most likely be able to boost 15psi daily when i'm done....

I'm just following this guy that built up his f22b1... lots of hard work on his setup.. 400 hp built up f22b1 turboed 14psi on the street and 24 psi on the track.. all i can say is aweeeeesome

i would personally definately go with the f22b1/turbo setup. you can squeeze out so much more hp than going n/a h22. the SOHC tends to work better with turbos and have pretty strong connecting rods that can handle more power. ALSO, the f22b1 can generate LOTS of torque, and it has 8.8:1 compression which is low and good for a turbo.

good luck, i will also need it.

what it all comes down to is what do YOU want to do? do you want a FI or NA setup. H22 is easy, but all you can really beef up is the head and rods.

The problem with the H22 block and boost isn't the pistons or rods or closed deck, it's the cylinders. You don't get ductile iron sleeves, you have a high silicone aluminumish bore that doesn't play nice with the forged pistons you'd find aftermarket for a purpose build. While the bore is fine for NA applications since it is very resistant to wear at high RPM regardless of the R/S ratio, it can't overcome the additional stress it faces with boost forcing the piston skirt against the cylinder from two directions [the rod against the cylinder, and the boost on the piston]. Resleeve the block with iron sleeves, run forged pistons, this can become a moot point.

the F22 on the other hand, you can beef up all of the internals, not just the head. it is SOHC which means no blowby and the F22 also has a lower compression ratio than the h22 so there again it is more ideal for a FI setup.

either way it all comes down to money and which way you want to go.

My motor hase alot of miles on in so it will need some work. I do like the idea of boosting the f22 , mmmmmmmmmm turbo!!
What kind of dollar difference would I be looking at ?
Does any one know a good place to get a turbo in western Canada? How much work is neede to the top end?

Sorry about the game of 20 questions but I am new to the turbo game.

as far as boosting an f22 vice swapping in a na h22? about the same with a good turbo kit and beefed up internals on the f22 with more hp from the turbo f22. you'll just have to get a beefier clutch and watch the tranny. the f22 tranny is pretty good, but if you're runnin high boost it can take it's toll

Well if guys don't get laughed at for building up D16's and ZC's which have far less output potential then why would it be so silly to start with an F22 which has better output? But yah, turbo is def the way to go on an F22 if you are talking speed and running with H22 Accords. I'd rather have a freshly built F22 and piece together my own turbo kit than a stock H22 swap. Stock sucks.... and that's all a swap is. Big whoop.
