Default CL Type S swap into a 5th gen Accord?

I know this is kinda weird but is it possible?

A buddy of mine has a 5th gen V6 Accord and has been looking for a way to make it a manual....well he tripped across an engine and tranny for the Type S for a fair price and is wondering how possible it really is.

Has anyone tried this yet?

That's a pretty tall order. It might be possible, but at what cost? It may make more sense for him to sell the Accord and just buy a brand new CL-S six speed for what it may cost to convert.

But the whole point is to have a 5th gen manny V6. Its not something you will ever see again probably.

Besides he doesn't really like the CL anyways.

Well, assuming you can get the engine and tranny to fit with an Accord front suspension (CL-S has the HLSD, and a different suspension geometry), you must purchase a CL-S ECM, the entire exhaust from the headders back, not to mention adding for the cut and pasting for the peddals, and gear shift (CL-S has it's own shift linkage, not shared with any other Honda). If he want's to shell out the cash, I'd say a rough estimate of about 15,000 when it's all said and done. Unless he wants to try to do it himself, which I do not recomend. Sheesh. That's a down payment on the real CL-S which is faster, handles better, looks better, and is more luxurious than his Accord.

yes, it will fit without a problem.

the CL and Accord share chassis... they also share motors. All you have to do is some wiring fanagling since the Type-S motor is OBD IIa, and the 5th gen Accord is OBD II.

the only time you'd run into some hassles is dropping a V6 into a 4 banger Accord, as you have to swap out a lot of underhood items to make the motor and accessories fit properly.

what you're doing is a simple swap. it's like pulling a B18C5 out of a GSR and sticking a B18CR ITR motor in. essentially the same motor, but more output.

just make sure you get the whole clutch mechanism out of the CL Type-S along with shift linkage and shifter.

Default V6 swap

Let me clarify Drift's comments a little... While the 98-00 Accord Coupe and the 97-00 CL share a chassis, the 95-97 Accord V6 is a bit different. These differences shouldn't be a problem though. The engines, however, are completely different series. The stock C27 is a 90 degree V, where the J32 is a 60 degree V. The ECU and the wiring harness will need to be replaced, as the J32 is distributorless. The swap is similar to the one that I have in the works, so I'll try to let you know if I run in to anything else you should know.

Thank you Drift and Kabuki for your input I didn't figure it was impossible or cost ineffective so thanks for the confirmation there.

Kabuki can you give some little details on your current project? If not thats cool but do let us know when its done...I am curious.

with money anything is possible, but you must decide whether it worth it's or not. this project will take some serious coin and will not be very easy. i'd sell the car and invest in something else.
