Default b18c or slightly built b16a?

i can get a b18c for $2700 or a b16a for $1850.
Do you think it's a better idea to get the B16a and get new rods and pistons or get the b18c? I figure they will end up being the same price so which would be better a stock b18c or a b16a with a built bottom end? I am going to be putting this motor in a 97 ls integra. I know b18c has more torque, but in the long run wich will be better for my situation.

B18C.

The 3rd gen Integras are a bit heavy; I think you'll be dissapointed with the b16a...even if it's slightly built up. IMO B16a's belong in lighter weight CRX's and Civic Hatches. In the long run you'll also be able to make more power with the B18C, and you'll have an easier time selling the car in the future, if that's important to you.

Well the b16a is the 90-93 ls engine if I'm right and the B18c is the vtec I think. Owning an LS, and having ridden in a GSR, I say go with the B18C, the torque difference is just disgusting, and once your over 4 g's, the acceleration you have is seat-mount-breaking.. . Don't get me wrong though. If I take my ls up past 3 g's, the car jolts violently if you floor it. :fawk:

A B18b was in the 2nd gen Integra's, just like in your LS teg_fan.

The B18c(?) is a GS-R or Type-R engine, in either case, it's vtec and makes between 180 and 195hp. Better engine, more torque, takes to mods better.

Go with the b18c.

B18C1 = 170 hp 1.8 liter VTEC ('94-'01 GSR)
B16A = 160 hp 1.6 liter VTEC (JDM models: Civic SiR, Civic SiR, Integra RSi, Integra XSi, CR-X del Sol SiR; USDM Models: del Sol VTEC, '99-'00 Civic Si)

Incidentally, the '90-'93 Integra RS/LS/GS motor was the B18A. And generally when someone wants to refer to a Type-R motor they will call it a B18C5 or B18C-R.

i think that the JDM ITR are just labeled as b18c and the usdm ITR are b18c5, but i see what ur getting at.
on comment on the gsr hp, i was looking at the dealer sticker and it says 174 hp, pretty funny when i saw that, got to scan that soon.

Thanks much for the help. Since you guys had enough time to read my post you can check out the engines i am talking about at www.osakajdmmotors.com These are the best prices I've seen anywhere. I am looking at the b16a2 or the b18c as labeled at this site. If anyone has any experience with this site, or has a better site for motors please tell me. Thanks
