Uhohh, RPM q.
I was driving Jens RSX around town on our way to look for a job for mua, I pulled out of the exit from campus in first, and rip it open full throttle. I come to about 7700 RPM's and it started to bounce but didn't hit redline? Ofcourse I only let it happen like two or three times cause I wasn't prepared for that. Why was this? This was the first time it ever happened, anybody else had the same experience?
Stupaad me, did it while the engine was cold for the most part, it had maybe built up a little heat, like one notch from cold. Help, need this answered concerned I am.

SWEET! she lets you drive it?
Dude doesn't it Redline around 7700? - or is it 7900? it was probably just the fuel cutoff if I am understanding you right...factory tachometers arn't always that accurate...having it off by 200 rpm isn't complete abnormal...

Redline on the typeS is 7900 but the rev limiter doesn't kick in until 8200/8300. If the car isn't warmed up enough the ECU won't let the revs get into the VTEC range at 5800 RPM. Sounds like you may have hit the limiter, and that doesn't do anything but shut the fuel supply down to drop the revs. But when you take it in to service it, the ECU will tattle on you to the mechanics if they do any computer diagnostics.

OLDMAN is right. The ecu won't let it rev that high unless the motor is warmed up. I am guessing you didn't notice the vtec kick in when it happned.
Thanks for the response guys. You are all probably right.
(1) It was mostly cold, ECU probably cut it
(2) Come to think of it, didn't really notice it but VTEC was certainly not as pronounced as usual...good point.
(3) The tach prob isn't 100% correct but like stated above we've had it to over 8k so, the ECU allows at least to 8100 rpm.
Incublinkus, between us and some other peeps, yes she lets me drive. But it basically stays in our group of friends, you KNOW her dad can't find out cause insurance purposes and he'll flip...'aight?
Thanks again.
