Default rubbing

I just got my tires in the mail today. I have 17x7 in wheels with a 40mm offset. the tires I got were size 205/40/17, should I expect to have rubbing on a 96 civic ex coupe, if so what can I do to fix it.

Is your car lowered? If so how much? You shouldn't rub unless your car is slammed.

How low are you dropped? Your wheels and tires are within specs where you shouldn't have a problem. The only thing that I could think of is that you're too low and you have really bad negative camber.

if you're lowered more than 2", you'll have some problems. 17"s will slow you down as well.

It doesn't matter (in most cases) how low you are dropped. What matters more is the offset of the wheels.

hell yeah i put 15's on my 98 ex and the rear rubbed hella bad. but the tires also stick out about a 1/2" but i just took them off and banged the lip or metal in on the outer part of the rim well and that did the trick just fine with no body damage. Well considering that you take your time

Re-read my post again up above.

My experience shows that 40mm offset you may or may not rub. The reason being is that not all company have the best QA (quality assurance) and one company may make a 40mm offset at their company 38mm and another might make it 42mm.

And actually the best width to get with a 7" wide rim is a 42-44mm offset.
