light flywheel...do I need to rebalance the crank?
I'm allowed to use a light-weight flywheel in my autocross bracket, so...
if I go with, say, a 10 or 11 pound flywheel...by the way, will a 10 pound flywheel still provide good power and daily drivability?...anyway, with that 10 or 11 pounder, will I just be able to bolt on the flywheel and go? Or will it involve me having to take the engine apart to have the crank and pulley balanced with the new flywheel? the car is a 91 CRX Si, if that matters at all. thanks

Hey if you install a light flywheel it will make ur motor run not so great! The weaght of the flywheel helps turn the crankshaft! so if you make it lighter guess what! it makes ur engine rev higher... but you get more wear and tean on all the parts of your motor pluss you lose top end power and you cant go as fast (AKA loss momentum!) This auto class is cool ****! If I were to buy a LIGHTENED flywheel I wouldnt go to extreme maybe a couple of LBS! just my 2cents

2. You don't lose any top end power at all, and you can go just as fast.
3. The motor will run fine
4. Every mod you make puts more stress on the engine
I have a 7lb flywheel on my integra, and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Ya ok dude.... Thats just what my instructor told me.... He has been a mechanic longer than you have been breathing so im gona take his word for it..... BTW dubster I got into sequia! cool **** eh?
From my experiences, mechanics don't know jack about modifying an engine. They know how to repair something that's broken. I've talked to so many mechanics that did good repair work, but wouldn't know the first thing about nitrous, forced induction, extreme all motor setups. I would rather take the word of people who have had the parts on their car, and for a long period of time...firsthand experience is the key. Sequoia is cool, isn't it pretty expensive?
