i would stick with a 5w30 synthetic and u will be more then protected....the fact that u "redline" all the time doesnt by itself mean that u need to have any really fancy oil or the fact that u "chirp" ur tires constantly.... what is wrong with 5w30 thats a perfect lubricity for the integra, otherwise the dealer would tell u something else? now if your motor was heavily modded maybe u could change the oil but for now just use like mobil 1 5 30 and u will be more than covered

I agree. Just to add to that, make sure the oil is changed more frequently due to the added stress that will break the oil down faster. All other maintenence should be done earlier too.

yeah oil weight is set by the manufacturer. they built the damn thing, you think you know better?! if you're worried, just buy expensive-ass oil in the same 5/30 viscosity. i use motul, i get it in a 5 liter jug at my local honda dealer. and with hondas, redlining doesn't even phase them. keep fresh oil in it and you can drive it like you stole it. my 94 accord with 160k miles... for 3.5 years i bounced off the rev-limiter about once a week. that car never seemed to notice. still has perfect compression, burns no oil, and passes smog with flying colors. that's just honda.

I have heard that higher mileage vehicles use a little thicker weight oil, so it doesnt burn at all. If your car doesnt burn, don't worry about it.

even with higher mileage vehicles, unless it is burning a ton of oil, use the stock weight. if oil is too think it won't get where it needs to go, through all those tiny little passages, and that will cause further damage.

Default Synthetic is Best??

On my '03 Si, local Honda service tech advised against using synthetic, but to use standard mineral oil on this model, suggesting it's best for all Hondas (Acuras). Told me that Honda does not recommend synthetic oil use in its motors. Is this just a company line, or some fact?? Sounds like a lot of Hondas, esp. those used in high performance, use synthetic regardless of age.

well i wouldn't use synthetic until the car had at least 10,000 miles, just because you want to make sure it's broken in properly. furthermore, i would do the first oil change EXACTLY on schedule, not early, because they might be using some kind of special additive with the oil to help accomodate break-in. i don't know, so i figure i better just stick to the schedule. as far as hondas running better on non-synth, couldn't tell ya. my accord and gsr both definitely like the synthetic better.

Your dealership tech has no idea what he's talking about (maybe due to the fact that he's a technician and not an automotive engineer?). Synthetic is perfectly fine to use and in fact will provide superior performance over dino oil.
