i stripped the thread on my block where you screw the sparkplug in...

Default i stripped the thread on my block where you screw the sparkplug in...

and its an aluminum block. and since i did this, it gets horrible gas mileage and it makes a weird ticking noise. what can be done to fix this up? i dont care if its a cheap fix cause its just an old car for getting around

Take it to a machine shop. They'll helacoil it.. not sure what the price will be...

Helicoils are a couple of bucks. The same thing happened on my Chevy Corsica, except that it shot the spark plug through the hood. Fun times... :thumbup: I think it ended up being like 200 bucks total because they had to pull the head.

did it make a ticking noise along with bad gas mileage? cause im worried that it might be a valve problem. but i only encountered this ticking noise just after i changed the plugs. heck, i dont care about the ticking, i just want the good gas mileage. it drains it back now like a big block V8

You may have dropped some thread particles onto the piston which could be bouncing around in there - bad things.

You may need to adjust your valves too, they tick. Just get the immediate problem fixed first, and go from there.
