99 TL Auto Start
I installed an auto start in a 99 TL and am having trouble getting the key transponder bypass module working. It's a Commando EZ-2500 and a Commando Transponder Bypass Unit.
It's all hooked up and working as far as I can tell..... engine won't start unless the key is held next to the ig switch. I have tried every possible position for the loop
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated....

in that module, do you have to put the key in there? i know the DEI 555U(universal) one, you need to put he key in there. also, i would check the connections on the module(make sure its getting 12v) when the car is going to start, and the the ground activation input on the module is getting ground from the alarm. sounds like the module is not working to me though.

Thanks for your reply
The key is in the box and I verified the engine starts WITH the key prior to putting it in the box. Verified +12V and ground to the box (the only 2 connections) and I can hear the relays clicking in there when I activate the start unit.
I think it's a problem with positioning the coil around the key cylinder. When I test by holding a key near the ig switch it pretty much has to be in front of the key slot as though it were actually IN the switch. If I hold a key anywhere else (like on the side of the switch, under it, near the factory transponder unit above the switch, etc) the engine won't start. No matter where I hold the inductive loop the engine does not start
Any other thoughts ??
MTEnG- Since you have the EMI....you either have to put the key in the transponder ( wouldnt recommend it ) or use a DEI module I think its the 555u but that one doesnt require you to cut your key and leave it in there.
I have an autopage alarm on my car and am using a DEI module to bypass my EMI.
I didnt have to cut my key or anything since the module memories the codes or something to enable you to remote start your car.
I might have the documentation at my house so if I do I will scan my wiring diagram cause it shows what connects to what.

I actually got another key programmed but not cut. Someone would have to go through a bit of trouble to steal the car.
I looked into that DEI unit and it looks the same as what I have. http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/555U.html
I'm concerned that the factory system seems so sensitive. Any thoughts on PLACEMENT of the inductive coil ??
Thanks to all for replying !

did you try placing the inductive loop in front of the ignition switch as you did with the key and if so did it work? if it does then it is definitely placement, other than that the wire coil is not working. you sometimes have to wrap it tightly around the lock cylinder where the immobilizer antenna is. you can use a zip tie or tape to hold it tightly, zip tie being better.
if you can't get your to work at all(as far as placement goes), you could try the DEI 555H which should interface with the imobilizer unit directly without the key.

I did try to place the coil right in front of the key hole and it did NOT work
I also tried placing the coil all around the imobilizer unit and still nothing. Of course, the factory key did not work there either.
I see you are recommending the 555H bypass unit. This looks like the answer. Placing my order now...... Stay tuned !
THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR YOUR REPLIES!!
