Default Could ignition timing have to do with bogging under boost?

I replaced the headgasket yesterday and I haven't adjusted the ignition timing yet, could this be the reason why the engine bogs under full boost?

It could very well be the problem. Check to make sure your vacuum hoses were correctly hooked up as well.

It kind of studders a bit when fully boosting, like it is hesitating. I didn't have this problem before I removed the head but since I haven't set my ignition timing yet, I was figuring that was the culprit. I also need to check my vacuum hoses because my idle is a bit high and my BOV doesn't open fully under full boost even though it is adjusted to as loose as it gets (I am running 8 psi and it shouldn't be that loose).

Fuel pressure is regulated by vacuum, that's why I suggested you check it. That could definitely be the problem. How do your plugs look?

That's what too far retarded ignition timing could cause, or extra fuel. Vacuum hoses being routed incorrectly could cause a rich condition, because fuel pressure is vacuum controlled. When the vacuum hose is disconnected from the FPR, the fuel pressure goes up. I had an old prelude back in the day that had the engine replaced, and the shop hooked up the vacuum hoses wrong somehow. The car would bog like crazy and ran super rich.

I advanced the timing a bit and the problem went away. I got really bad gas mileage with the timing like it was. I would assume that the fuel pressure was too high and most of it went out my tailpipe. I do still have the idle problem. I have two taps in my FPR line: 1 to the wastegate and 1 to the BOV. Is there somewhere else that you guys recommend I connect these? I tried connecting the BOV hose to the vaccum hose on the secondary butterfly dashpot but it didn't open properly. Thanks for the advice though, I was definitely running too rich. I'll pull the spark plugs this weekend and see what they say.
