On an auto there would be a dipstick. Take it to a shop so they can put it on a lift, so it will be up and level. Your gonna have to remove the fill plug and actually stick your pinky in there to see what the deal is. If you hit fluid right away your good, then check the color, if it seems dry or shallow then your gonna have to have it refilled.

If you changed the axles then yes, you need tranny fluid.

Since your really confusing me, calling something a cable transmission.. Lets go thru the procedure for both, an automatic and a manual transmission. Honda automatics have a dipstick, pull it out, there will be a cross hatch on the bottom, it should be at the top line. Its checked engine off and vehicle level. Use Honda ATF only,, the use of dextron will cause a harsh shift.. IF you have a manual Transmission, your going to have to crawl under the vehicle, to the rear of the passenger side axle you will see a large bolt, 17 MM wrench size, remove that bolt, the fluid level should be level with the bottom of the threads of that opening. The Oil used in a manual transmission is the same motor you use in your rngine or Manual Transmission available at your dealer. How you get that oil in there is up to you, some creative use of a funnel, suction gun or a pump is needed..

Everybody calls it a 'cable tranny' but it's just a tranny that uses a cable-operated clutch.

Want more confusion? What about a newer Accord with a hydraulic clutch & cable-operated shifter??

Starting with a drained tranny.

Take out the upper "fill hole" plug.

Next remove the speedo drive gear. [10mm bolt on the retaining plate, then a gentle twist and pull on the speedo drive to get it to come out]

Use a funnel with a hose on it to put 10w30 or honda MTF in through the speedo drive gear hole. Pour slowly, and keep pouring until oil starts coming out of the "fill hole" in a steady dribble. Put the plug back in place, re install the speedo drive gear and retaining plate/bolt, and you're done.
