Changing Transmission Fluid on 97 Integra GS
I already drained the manual tranny fluid on my 97 Integra GS. To my surprise, refilling wasn't as straightforward as with my Honda Accord. My Chilton's repair manual didn't really give a detailed (with pictures) instructions. Anyway, what I thought was the filler hole does not really have a hole big enough for a funnel/hose setup to work. It only had a slit of opening so the fluid just keeps bouncing out. I attached a sketch photo of my tranny housing. I drained it from the part labeled #12 (3/8" ratchet hole), and the filler hole, i believe, is labeled #13 (1/2" ratchet hole). I also noticed the part labeled #14, which has a hex-shaped ratchet hole, but i don't know what this is for. Please advice!
You drained from the correct hole, but are trying to fill the wrong one. Try #18.
Torque #13 back down and use a small funnel with hose attached to fill. When #18 begins to overflow, you're done.

thanx daniel...ur a lifesaver!
kiddo18, i used the honda mtf....it's what's recommended by my chilton's repair manual. although, it also says u can use 10w40 oil for temporary use. since i only need to change this every 30k mi, i dont mind spending a couple extra $$ on the honda mtf.

Don't ever use motor oil unless all your tranny fluid leaks out, you are stuck on the side of the road and that is all you have in your trunk, trust me, it is the wrong thing to do. I used redline MTL, and have been very pleased with it. I have heard some bad things about it, but have nothing but good experience personally.
