Default Hi, I'm new. Need some advice

I have a 1999 Integra. It’s my first Acura. I've got a few mods here and there, nothing too special. I'm saving up some money. Anyway, I have this little problem. I don't post on many message boards so I don't know where to get advice.

I pulled my car out of the garage last night. (My dad wanted it out so he could park his Hummer). I was kinda excited because I installed an AFE Intake last Thursday. and I really took it out around the block. It hauls! It’s got this wicked roar to it now and I was thrashing it around the corners hard when I heard a hard thump and felt a bump.

I pulled up the e-brake and brought it 'round hard. Right there in the pool of halogen was my sister's cat, Tookie.

It was like completely splattered! I got out and looked and it was a three foot red skid-mark in the road!

Anyway, I knew she would be completely bent, so I went to the local pay and spray to clean my car.

Well, long story short, my front air dam is toast. It’s got a big crack in it and I don't think I can fix it. The cat cracked my air dam and messed up my paint!

I think my sister should pay to get it fixed. She's some big-wig web developer, so she's got the cash. What do you think?

I don't think she will be too happy if you tell her you killed her cat, not to mention you want her to pay for the damages to you car. I say pay it urself and move on. (If she still don't know about it.)

I saw that case on Judge judy in the past and to my surprise, you can actually sue your sis for the damage to your car.

Dude... pay for it yourself. Killing your sister's cat THEN asking for her to pay for the damage it did to your car as you recklessly drove over it... is ****ed.

You sound like my younger brother in that respect. Suck it up and pay for what you did.

I do not think you will have any success in asking your sister to pay for it. I rather think you should reduce your "thrashing" to safe driving and invest your money in a new cat and whatever body work it takes to repair this damage.

Thanks for the advice. You mentioned Judge Judy, I think you are right about being able to sue family memebers but I hope that is not necessary. I did see an epsiode of Ally McBeal where they ruled that pets are "property" and owners are liable for their actions so it seems like my sister would have to pay for the damage to my car. I've been saving up for a spoiler and I hate to have to spend the money fixing my airdam instead.

dude, this part right here shows that you KNOW you were driving reckless. and who am i to talk, sounding like a parent (i'm on 17), but if you were doing the speed limit and driving defensively i think you would've stopped before of avoided hitting the cat.

now you don't need the hatred from her knowing that you killed the cat, even if you do tell her, the little damage that is on your car is on your tab anyhow. just suck it up, and buy a new lip dood.

I hate to point out the obvious but roads were made for CARS, not CATS

True enough, but you wouldnt be in this situation had you not been driving all crazy trying to push you new intake to its limits...I would just fix it myself personally.

thank you, my above post was not to offend you at all. because even the most restrained of us must floor it once in a while, but you must take the accountability for your actions.

i mean, asking your sister who had no control of this situation, to pay is absurd. if it was a deer you struck (much worse damage might i add), would you sue the parks department or mother nature? come on man, get a little more realistic here.
