Fixing Cracked Tranny Case
My tranny case is cracked and it leaks fluid, what can i use to patch this besides getting a new tranny case. I dont want to spend the money on a case and to have it installed cuz i will probably be replaceing this tranny in a year or so anyways.
I was thinking maybe clean it off (but with what?) and then coat the whole underside with JB Weld...would that work?
Thanks

You can epoxy it, but you'll just end up leaking again sooner or later. New cases aren't terribly expensive or difficult to change out.... or you could take it to a good welder and have the crack welded up for a nominal fee.
It not just one crack its like a spiderweb of them, looks like it must have smacked the groud pretty hard, dont know if that can be welded or not...
I bought some stuff today called metal sealant or somthing, looks like it should work...i dont need it to last forever, but this stuff says its resistant to oil, water, and its good to 400F hehe

A local Honda shop JB Welded mine when I had a hole in it about the size of a dime. Of course, when it originally busted, it messed up some interior parts so we had to replace the upper housing anyways.
