gsr tranny on gs?
It seems my transmission is going and instead of replacing the synchros and having them break again from my clutch down the road, I want to get a new transmission. I have a cable-clutch GS motor, and want to put on a GSR cable tranny. The guy who painted my car quoted me for 1100 with parts and install for the gsr tranny and 900 for another ls tranny.
So I'm thinking, why not spend 200 extra to make my car a bit quicker?
My question is, does anyone have a gsr tranny on thier non-vtec integra or civic? is it just as reliable as an LS tranny and how much quicker did it make your car? I've heard like 3 tenths of a second or something...
Thanks everyone,
Mike

The '90-'91 transmissions use a different flywheel and clutch from the '92-'01 transmissions. The GSR was introduced in '92. You can only use a '92-'93 GSR transmission because the '94-'01 use a hydraulically actuated clutch, and if you do use a '92-'93 GSR transmission you have to buy a '92-'93 clutch and flywheel.

Well I have an ACT clutch and flywheel. I know the flywheel will fit and I'm pretty sure the clutch can transfer over as well. The guy at the shop said I could get the gsr tranny so I don't see why the clutch wouldn't transfer.

'90-'91 and '92-'93 clutch/flywheel parts aren't interchangeable. On older D-series transmissions you can install a newer (and larger) flywheel and clutch into an older transmission but with the B-series transmissions there are two distinct generations and you have to use the right size clutch and flywheel.
