In C.A. State law says any head light, lamp other then OEM is illegal. So when u blows replace with stock, or DOT bulbs. So in C.A., yes they are.

Around here cops dont care.

 

what smurf said is pretty much nationwide, modifying your stock headlights is a :nono:

and people in chi town have been getting nailed with $300+ tickets for stock HIDs on cedes, porsche, and s2k's, etc. and were obviously talking the doctor/lawyer sort, so of course theyre pissed. suing VW, cedes, acura, the city, the state, you name it

how do they know they're HIDs and not bulbs?... i think if they're SAE or DOT certified they're legal... (The housings that is..)

showoffs are NOT hehe.

i'm thinking about HIDs now though

 

any HID system that didnt come from the factory on the original vehicle is ILLEGAL. enough said.
