Default Soundgate aux adapter/ipod INSTALL question

i read through most of the past messages regarding ipod connections for 2003-4 accords using the soundgate auxiliary input device for a direct connnection as the best option. i am in the process of purchasing all of the needed parts but i have a question about the install.

do you have to disconnect the stereo cable from the battery at any point during the installation of this device? my problem is my wife threw out a personal box that had the card with the stereo security code, and while im not 100% sure, im thinking that i will need that code if the stereo at any point is disconnected. thanks

I know with past experience when doing work on all of my audio equipment that it is better that you disconnect the battery when wroking but not necessary either. I just saves you from any sparks or fuses being blown on products like amps. In terms of the security code, if you do disconnect the power then yes the radio will reset all of the settings except for the security code and will require you to re-enter it in order for the stereo to function (Kenwood models at least).

For installing an Ipod, you should will be okay without a battery disconnect.
